Balancing working full-time and trying to be the ultimate wife & supermom to my two boys caused me to put my health on the back burner. Who else can identify with this? You get so busy taking care of everyone else’s needs and you totally forget to make time for yourself. My eating habits weren’t the best and honestly, change is hard. I just kept myself afloat until that moment came when I had no choice but to deal with my reality.
I was pre-diabetic. Looking at me nobody would have ever known but I was unhealthy. At my heaviest, I was 187 lbs and it was taking a toll on my body. Let’s keep in mind that I am 5ft tall, with a petite frame so I was way over my limit. I finally made a choice to put my health first and knew that I had a long road ahead of me.
I was so used to trying different diets with friends or doing a quick-fix weight loss challenge but this time I needed a lifestyle change. I did research and read articles that provided tips and insight on becoming a pescatarian. After realizing that there were more pros than cons, I finally gave it a try! After months of eating fish, fruits, vegetables, and the things I love in moderation I was able to turn my health around! One year later I was no longer prediabetic! I rediscovered my self-love and self-worth during my weight loss journey. I’m here to tell you it may not be easy but it’s definitely worth it!
